The weather looked too good to leave Beddington yesterday but today it was blue sky so I took the chance to go on one of my infrequent trips out of Surrey this year. This time for a putative Eastern Black Redstart on the beach at Margate. It's been a long time since I've been down to Margate and this is the first time for a bird.
Margate is easy to get to from Surrey and parking along the sea front was a doddle. A short walk down to the beach and I was enjoying this smart looking bird which was feeding on the beach and showing well as they say. It certainly looks like an Eastern Black Redstart and I'm thinking pics will confirm this. Amazingly, samples of it's droppings were collected for DNA analysis. To finish off, there's a Caff just by the beach where you can have a full English, solid !
