PHAL KEEPS IT'S DISTANCE

Not much happening at the farm this morning when I got a message from the Ninja, 'Grey Phal on QE2 in the middle'. Not a year tick, as I saw the Frensham bird but the distant views in the early evening meant only crap pics. Would this bird come closer ? I've had Grey Phals at my feet on res's before.

I checked for Long-eared Owls and checked for Glaucs at the farm but there was not much of anything so I made my way over to Walton. I met Kojak. Posh and Captain Hurricane had been earlier and had the Phal about a hundred yards out but the Phal was back in the middle again when I got there. It was pretty flighty and being disturbed by gulls and came reasonably close at one stage but sadly not for pics.

Teal at Beddington, they pair up on their wintering grounds.
